ABI provides our students with tremendous amount of clients and teaches them the art of shaving, hair styling, from classic tapers, fohawks, pompadours, baldies, caesars, low fades, mid fades, high fades, high-top fades, afro, flat tops, razor lineups, shampoos, classical haircuts, beard trims, shape ups, blowouts, mohawks and preparation for New York State Board.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM.

The Barbering Fundamentals course is designed to train apprentice registrants to become competent as registered apprentices, licensed cosmetologists to expand their services, and barber operators to hone their skills as Master Barbers. ABI students will attend classes in a good faith 200 hour course of practical and theoretical hands-on training in the practice of barbering under supervision, of a licensed instructor who will assist each student in such practice. After a barber apprentice completes two years of his or her apprenticeship working in a licensed barbershop, the barber apprentice may qualify to sit for the barber exam for Barber Operator’s License. Our curriculum will also provide our students with a complete overview of the day-to-day haircut services, expectations, precautions, and safeguards that any barber apprentice will encounter during the apprenticeship when it starts in a barbershop.

TUITION & FINANCING .

American Barber Institute offers students a Tuition Payment Plan.
Students pay while they attend school.

Upon registration, students will pay a $1200 tuition down payment.
$2400 leftover balance will be divided into 8 weekly payments of $300.

Students will be responsible for the purchase of barbering tools and supplies. A list of acceptable tools will be provided upon registration.

Who can apply

Students are eligible to take the Barber Fundamental course if they have one of the following licenses: Barber Operator, Cosmetologist, Barber Apprentice, or they are current Barber Apprentice Registrants.

1 . SOCIAL SECURITY CARD

You should provide a Social Security Card or Tax ID Number

2 . High School Diploma

High School Diploma (HSD) or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)*

3 . ADMISSION AGE

You must be at least 17 years of age

4 . ADDRESS

You should provide Proof of your residential address

5 . PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

You should provide valid photo identification or a valid Driver’s License

6 . DOWN PAYMENT

$1200 Down Payment

* If you don’t have an HSD or GED, ABI will administer an entrance exam prior to enrolling. If you have a HSD from a foreign country, you have to submit a notarized translation and copy of the original document.
