# American Barber Institute (ABI)
> New York's only dedicated barber school, est. 1996. NYS-licensed (NYSED/BPSS) 500-hour Master Barber program at two campuses: 48 West 39th Street, Manhattan (212-290-2289) and 121 Westchester Square, Bronx (718-676-0640). Tuition from $4,600 with weekly payment plans; ACCES-VR, Post-9/11 GI Bill(R) and VA benefits accepted. New classes start the first Monday of every month. English and Spanish instruction.

## Key facts
- New York requires 500 training hours for the Master Barber license
- Full-time: 30 hrs/week for 17 weeks; weekends: 18 hrs/week for 27 weeks
- Requirements: HSD/GED or pass ABI's ATB entrance exam; minimum age 17
- Hands-on training in a supervised on-campus barber clinic with real clients from week one
- Job placement assistance on graduation
