A.B.I. is currently in its 25th year of operation. Our first school located on West 29th St. was established in 1996. Many years ago, we moved about ten blocks away to 48 West 39th St. in the heart of Manhattan. The school is located minutes away from Penn Station, Grand Central Station and Times Square. As such, our students have the ability to enjoy the restaurants, theaters, and many sights that comprise the excitement of Midtown Manhattan.
A.B.I. is licensed by New York State Department of Education. In our two floor facility the first floor is for theory work, and the second floor is used for hands on practical training. Our school’s facility is 3,000 square feet, which makes us one of the largest schools of its type in the New York City area.
Our curriculum, programs, and classes have all been professionally evaluated and approved by the New York State Department of Education.
The Mission of the American Barber Institute Inc. is to provide an up to date course of instruction to prepare students to meet the necessary requirements to become thoroughly qualified barbers and prepare them for lifetime careers in barbering.
When given the opportunity by our students, we assist in finding employment within their field as well as help them develop the mindset, and qualifications needed to gain and retain such employment.
We endeavor to maintain our exemplary reputation with salon employers as an outstanding resource for staffing of their enterprises with quality professionals.
At A.B.I. we believe that our graduates should be prepared to embark upon a lifetime career and should be able to open their own Barber Shop or Salon if they so aspire to do so in the future.
The average salary for a Barber/Stylist is $42,626 per year in the United States, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
When you come for a tour, the first thing you will find is that our staff is incredibly friendly and here to help you. Ask our staff about their love for teaching a new generation of barbers and they will tell you that it is their passion for imparting knowledge.
