ABOUT THE PROGRAM.

The 50 Hour Barber refresher program is intended primarily for licensed individuals wishing to enhance their skills such as Cosmetologists, Hairdressers, and Barber Apprentices who are ready to take the NY State Board Exam to become a Master barber.

We, at ABI, want to ensure that every student is up to speed on classical haircutting, straight razor shaves, fades, tapers, scissor over comb techniques, modern hairstyles, and be properly prepared to sit for and pass the New York State Barbering Licensing Examination. ABI provides its students with clients so that they may get plenty of hands on training. Upon completion of the program our students will receive a 50 Hour Barber Refresher certificate; we will also provide job placement assistance to every graduate.

The course consists of 50 Hours, and is given in 10 sessions of 5 hours each, in accordance with a posted schedule below. The 50 Hour Refresher Course may be taken five days a week over a period of two weeks.

TUITION & FINANCING .

American Barber Institute offers students a Tuition Payment Plan that allows students to pay while they attend school. Upon registration, students will pay $750.00 tuition down payment and the balance of $750 can be paid at the beginning of the second week. The students will be responsible for the purchase of barbering tools and supplies prior to the start of classes. A list of acceptable tools will be provided.

You should provide a Social Security Card or Tax ID Number

2 . High School Diploma

High School Diploma (HSD) or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)*

3 . ADMISSION AGE

You must be at least 17 years of age

4 . ADDRESS

You should provide Proof of your residential address

5 . PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

You should provide valid photo identification or a valid Driver’s License

6 . DOWN PAYMENT

$750 Down Payment

* If you don’t have an HSD or GED, ABI will administer an entrance exam prior to enrolling. If you have a HSD from a foreign country, you have to submit a notarized translation and copy of the original document.
