About the Program
Required For Your NY Barber License
All new applicants who wish to apply with the State of New York as a Barber Operator or Barber Apprentice — and all individuals renewing an existing Barber Operator or Barber Apprentice license — must complete a program of study on the Transmission of Contagious Diseases to be employed in barber shops.
How It Works
- Enroll. You receive the first packet: an enrollment agreement and the program booklet. Return the signed agreement with your payment.
- Study. Once we receive your signed agreement and payment, we mail the second packet containing the examination based on the booklet. Read and study before taking the exam.
- Take the exam. Complete it fully and mail it back to A.B.I.
- Get certified. We grade your exam; upon passing, we mail you two certificates of completion — one for your apprentice or master barber application, and one for your records.
